Assuming he recovers well from his injury, it certainly could be a blessing in disguise. My editor gave me a hard time about saying that Allen looked "really good," but I stand by that comment. He was really efficient, moved the ball effectively and seemed very comfortable for someone making his first career start.
Yep, losing Eddie and Siaosi will hurt. (Though I will say, defensive line has been the most disappointing part of UW's play so far, IMO)
However, and this feeds into the "there's always next year" philosophy, UW will only lose Yarbrough, Hala'api'api, Boyland, Wick and Coffman as far as key players. Tyran Finley, I guess, too.
OK, any last questions? Got a few more minutes left.
I think Allen probably starts three years. Garrett redshirts next year, serves as backup for two years and starts two years. That's how things worked at NDSU for Bohl and he'd like that sort of depth here. If Allen gets hurt again or doesn't perform, then Garrett would probably receive a shot.
Agreed, Brian. It's tough to preach patience to fans. But I think 38-7 may have been rock bottom. We'll see if it goes up from here. Any visible progress would be welcomed.
All right, folks. Thanks for joining today. As usual, I'll hold a video live chat about 90 minutes before game time via Periscope. Follow me on Twitter (twitter.com/ryanholmgren) for the link to that chat. And as always, keep reading the Casper Star-Tribune.
