Greetings, everyone! Happy Hawaii week to all of you. Who wants to start us off with a question?
Agreed, Bryan. A couple weeks ago we did a Toss-Up with me and Ross about which program has more momentum right now, football or basketball. It's a fun argument to have, because it means both programs have momentum.
Basketball is right around the corner.
Yep. They usually go Friday, but heading there tomorrow after practice instead. Long flight + four-hour time change are a lot to deal with. Hopefully the extra day will help.
Mike will be on his normal travel schedule, heading to Hawaii on Friday. No extra day for him.
No doubt, Pokes. Six seniors + interesting recruiting class in an up for grabs conference. Should be a great season.
In my head, though, I'll also be in Honolulu tomorrow.
No, I think he was probably speaking in more big picture terms. His contract was renewed I believe for five years, so I don't think he'll retire any time soon. But he's been around the game for a long time so was probably talking more in terms of his entire career.
Hard to say, but not all five will redshirt. I think Jonathan Barnes has great long term potential, but we'll see if he can pick up the college game right away. I'd say Lieberman is the most polished right now and will probably play at some point.
Tyrell Williams could also play. Probably either he or Barnes.
No problem, flyboy. Think you're safe for at least a few more years, the length of this current contract.
Hopefully. Sounds like Taylor Graham might start at QB for Hawaii, who is a much less mobile QB than their other guy. That would help, I think. They've got to break out sometime, right?
I also heard that, but don't think we'll know for sure until Saturday. That would be a big shot in the arm for UH offense. Big, tank of a senior RB. And against a Wyoming D that didn't tackle well against MSU, could be dangerous.
But again, Iosefa still may not play. We'll see.
That's a good point. One reason there have been so few chances at INT is because these QBs have not been pressured hardly at all. Need to create duress to force mistakes.
Correct, Bryan. Unfortunately for Norm Chow, there is no Colt Brennan on the roster.
With that said, though, 1-11 Hawaii scored 56 points on Wyoming last year. so an anonymous QB can be successful. Hopefully that isn't the case.
Yeah, and Hawaii's defense has actually been pretty good. They allowed only 17 points to Washington in the opener, 21 at Colorado. Those are Pac 12 teams. Wyoming will have to run the ball and work off of that.
No chance, fly boy. But neither offense is very explosive. A shootout would be a huge surprise to all.
This could be another 17-13, 20-19 type of game.
Hopefully not. I don't remember many Wyoming fans appreciating that 59-56 game last year. That was some of the worst defense and special teams I've seen.
Just prolifically awful stuff.
That sounds in the correct ballpark, brown and gold.
And fly boy, no I fly separately. Going to be a long, long weekend of flights. But it will feel shorter if we see a good game.
Pokes, it's not looking good on Leddige. He's still being evaluated for concussion symptoms. He didn't dress for practice yesterday. I expect true freshman Ryan Cummings to start and play heavily.
