Chase, that's a great point and I don't get it either. I never understood why players did that. Seems like a lose-lose.
Yeah, Wyoming's coaches like to over-sign by one to protect themselves in case of transfers. Doesn't mean any one player is heading out the door. But they did the same thing last year and it worked out.
Lots of teams over-sign nowadays. Seems like a sensible move.
Good to know, fly boy. I was wondering how they had recruited a kicker that couldn't put it in the end zone. Thanks for the info.
Yeah, but that was still the plan all of last year. Would have been the same even if everyone had committed earlier. That's just the mentality of this coaching staff. Good point on the timing, though.
And Hankerson is back as a walk-on this year, by the way. Not sure if everyone noticed that.
Vernon, Haldorson and Tyser are gone.
I thought Hankerson showed some real flashes before he got suspended. He's not a leaper, but can get to the line. And he had a real knack for hitting threes late in the shot clock. If he can limit turnovers and be passable on defense, he'll help them.
Like it a lot. You've got games at SMU and Cal on the road and they host NMSU. Strength of schedule will be clearly improved from last year. I think there's a good shot they can beat Cal on the road, which would be a nice win for the program.
They also host Colorado, which will be a big game.
Haven't seen it. I think if I snuck in there, I'd probably be excommunicated by Wyoming athletics haha. But I hear it's on schedule. I'm looking forward to the unveiling.
Yeah, I saw that. Should be quite a spectacle when it opens.
I'd say 7 at this point. There are some really tough games ahead. You figure that they have to beat FAU, Hawaii, SJSU, NM and that'll get them six. Then maybe CSU or Fresno on the road.
I think that's a good idea, fly boy. Might not hurt to send an email their way.
I know I'd certainly like to see the progress.
Agree, fly boy. This should be a big year for the team and the program.
Five more minutes, folks. Any more questions?
I'm hearing high of 70, 30% chance of showers. Hopefully we can avoid lightning, fingers crossed.
I agree, 73. It's pretty early to judge, but the five-year outlook of these programs looks pretty promising.
I have to pick Boise because Wyoming has had such a bad recent track record against them. And if Keeton is back, USU is awfully tough to beat.
The good news in both games is that they are at home. That might swing things.
That would be a heck of a final score, 73. We'll see if the offense can break out. I'll say 24-21 Wyoming.
Agreed, fly boy. Bohl, Shyatt and Legerski are a solid coaching corps for the program.
That's all for this time, folks. Thanks for stopping by. I'll see you next week!
