I know Wyoming DC Steve Stanard uses the term "keep the cup" a lot, which is about positioning within the cover 2 and maintaining the correct pursuit angles. Is that what you heard?
If that scared Montana receivers, it's probably because they were about to get popped.
Biggest guy is Jacobi Owens, sophomore RB. He ran for 233 yards against Nicholls State last week. More of a speed back that they will use a lot. I'd say he's priority No. 1 and 2 for Wyoming's defense.
I'm not really worried about any of their receivers. The jury is still out on Pearson.
73 and Pokes, I'd expect to see more of that. With the Tampa 2, there will be soft spots a WR might be able to fit into. But there will also likely be multiple tacklers in between, and hopefully this defense can continue to be physical.
Five more minutes, folks. Any final pressing questions?
I think it certainly was more conservative than it can be. Like I said before, Colby only really took one shot downfield. The offense will open up throughout the season, but they'll never stray far from the power run.
Physically, I think Nzeocha has been the most athletic kid on the team for years. Question has always been if he can put it all together mentally. Hopefully he has.
I also like the Pokes this weekend. Maybe something like 21-17. We shall see.
Establish the run game, stay disciplined in run D and Wyoming should be in good shape.
Oh, and please take care of the football in enemy territory.
All right folks, that's all for this time. Thanks for stopping by. See you next week!
