Happy Tuesday! What's up, everybody? Big game day for Wyoming hoops. Who wants to ask the first question?
Yep, I worried a bit at the time that Wyoming created a monster when they lost to Fresno State in Fresno. That team was WAY too talented to be 1-7 in conference. Going to be a close game, but it will come down to if Wyoming can limited Fresno's talented back court.
I like Wyoming -- in a close game, of course. If Wyoming hit their free throws, they might have won in Fresno. Hopefully a good crowd will help them and Josh Adams will be able to slow down Tyler Johnson. It'll definitely be close, though.
I wasn't there, but from what I can tell SJSU made a concerted effort to double Nance. And that's going to continue to happen. I don't expect Nance to totally go off on anyone the rest of the way. It'll open up more chances for Cooke to dunk and the guards to get good threes.
They certainly can, but I won't predict any team will win six straight. The scary thing about Wyoming is that they can win any game, but they can also lose any game. But when you see that they have 4 home games remaining and all of their opponents have a losing record, it's definitely there for the taking.
Yep, I'll be watching. Will be an important couple days for Huff and Herron. Will be interesting to see where Huff and Herron time in the 40. Herron should be one of the top times. He also needs to show off his hands.
What's up, guys? Anybody have a question?
No, I saw that he was there but I'm not sure it was much more than a meet n' greet. He's obviously making a concerted effort right now to get around the state and engage the fan base.
Oooh, interesting question. That's going to be an interesting question, because I'm not sure who has ROOT Sports in Chicago. I'll always recommend the deep dish pizza -- Lou Malnati's, Giordano's, etc. Most of those places have TVs, but I can't guarantee they'll carry the game.
Good question, lots of big games tonight. I'll take Wyoming, Boise, Nevada and SDSU. Not many surprises there. But I think Boise at CSU could get interesting. You just never know what CSU team you're going to see these days.
I think since it's an earlier start there should be a little better attendance for tonight's game. I'll go somewhere between 7-8,000. Still not as many as I'd like, but I'd hope there'd be a little boost with Wyoming streaking right now.
He certainly has the resume, but I think he is choosing loyalty over that for the time being. He and Shyatt are "best friends," according to Shyatt. It seems the staff is very friendly and comfortable with the work environment, so I don't see him leaving soon.
You don't see many Wyoming coaches who go to Laramie from UCLA, though.
They can, but it's going to be very difficult. Just as the men have four home games the rest of the way, the Cowgirls have four road games. And they're 1-4 on the road in conference play. They're capable of winning every game they play, but they have to get over the hump on the road and steal a few.
I'm guessing you're asking about Vernon. He is still on the team, though he hasn't been sitting on the bench. The coaching staff won't comment on why, but he fully participates in practice. I highly doubt it's anything legal.
And I haven't talked to Washington about it, but I saw his reacton after the SDSU game, like everybody else. Bentz got first half minutes in that game, which he may not have been too happy with. But if that's the case, he has to realize that he's a freshman and he can earn time with more consistent play.
Nance would compete for it, but he'd be the only one. In the mix down low is Bairstow, Kirk, Birch, Josh Davis, the kid from Utah State, etc. I think Nance would be right there.
Grabau and Adams have also had their moments, but not first team. I could see Grabau landing somewhere around third team. Tons of good shooting guards in this league.
Also, Shyatt for coach of the year? He's got to be solidly in the discussion.
He is restricted salary, and it's my understanding that it's exactly what it sounds. An additional coach can be brought in at a lower salary with less possibility for bonuses, I think. Bath was first called RB/TE, but I think he'll just coach RB/FB. You don't see many coaches try to take on RB and TE, so it makes sense.
No problem, Cowboy. Thanks for stopping by.
Any other questions, guys? We've got about seven minutes left.
Starts Saturday, goes through Wednesday. But for Wyoming purposes, Herron and the WRs will compete Sunday and Huff and the DBs will compete Tuesday. All on NFL Network.
Yes, sir. Will be a fun weekend with UW-CSU basketball as well. And for me, I'll take in some olympic hockey as well.
Probably a good idea, because then you can fastforward through all the players you don't care about quite as much. Lots of fluff at the combine.
Don't think he'll be quite that fast, but definitely expect 4.4. 4.3 would be a pleasant surprise.
And that's all the time I have, guys. Thanks for stopping by! See you at the game tonight.
