Decent. There are a few issues now. Burman said they're willing to pay more than they paid DC, but is that enough? And if Fresno State's DeRuyter gets a shot at Washington, Tedford would likely go there instead of Laramie. He played and coached at Fresno State.
Tedford is most realistic, because it's obvious Wyoming wants him and he has at least shown initial interest. I think if he wants it to get done, it'll get done.
Not for sure at this point. I think a lot of guys will obviously wait until the hire. I don't think anyone wants to firmly decide to leave, just to have a high-profile coach come in.
That is a HUGE concern Bryan. I'll have a column about that tomorrow. If DC were still here, he'd be on recruiting trips right now. But Burman wants to get the right guy and be somewhat thorough, so it'd be hard to imagine him locking things down sooner than that.
I don't think it'll be that soon. There haven't been any interviews this week so far, I'm told. If everything goes perfectly, I'd say next week is the earliest. That's a possiblity.
I think there's a 0% chance he goes to the draft. He's not a high NFL prospect right now. There was little improvement from last season, numbers wise. And more INT. The only concern would be him transferring. But he'll certainly wait until the new hire to sort things out.
Chase and Mike, it'd be a reach for him to go anywhere. I can all but confirm he won't go to the draft. And to transfer to have to sit out a year, just to have one year of eligibility? Not likely.
I don't think he'd be drafted anywhere before 6th or 7th round.
Likely not drafted, though.
Will be, not have been Mike. And I may or may not be tracking flights (wink).
Brett would thrive under Tedford. Not to mention, being from Oregon, he watched Tedford's Oregon teams from 98-01 when Tedford was an excellent OC there. That's when Joey Harrington was "Joey Hesiman."
I believe Tedford would open doors for a better DC. Wyoming has not had access to really good assistants, and Tedford is very well respected nationally. He'd be able to bring in a capable DC better than most other candidates.
If you look long term, very few successful coaches have stayed beyond 3 years here. I don't think you worry about that right now. You have to get the guy that's going to turn things around, regardless of whether he'll stay 4 years down the line.
HArding won't stay. He was a DC guy through and through. Kaligis loves it here, and I think there's a good chance he stays. Would be a good move.
Tedford has big track record of molding QBs. Dilfer, Volek, Harrington, Rodgers, Boller...
Heard the Wells talks with Wake. I don't see him leaving right now. I'll beliveve it when I see it.
DeRuyter is not a favorite for Washington by any stretch. I've heard Petersen will talk to them. Chances are DeRuyter will be in Fresno next year.
Easier said than done, Pride. Hopefully they can invest those funds.
Thompson can play. IT'll be interesting to see how he develops.
I think Gilmore is still right there. Source told me he was a top possiblity a few days ago. Tedford is the hot name right now, but wouldn't be surprised if Gilmore interviews. He's got a lot of experience, just not at HC.
I don't think Tedford would leave after 1 year. You rarely see that happen, unless you have questionable character like Kiffin or Todd graham.
